Sabbe tasanti daṇḍassa, sabbe bhāyanti maccuno; Attānaṃ upamaṃ katvā, na haneyya na ghātaye. 129. All beings tremble at violence. All beings fear death.  EVIL  Abhittharetha kalyāṇe, pāpā cittaṃ nivāraye; Dandhañhi karoto puññaṃ, pāpasmiṃ ramatī mano. 116. Be quick to do meritorious deeds involving generosity, virtue, and meditation! Restrain your mind from evil! When one is slow to make merit one’s mind delights in evil. Pāpañce puriso kayirā, Na naṃ kayirā punappunaṃ; Na tamhi chandaṃ kayirātha, Dukkho pāpassa uccayo. 117. Having done something evil, do not repeat it; do not wish to do it again. Suffering is another name for evil. Gataddhino visokassa, vippamuttassa sabbadhi; Sabba­gan­thappa­hīnassa, pariḷāho na vijjati. 90. The liberated one has reached the end of the journey of rebirths. He is freed of sorrow. He is liberated in all ways. He is released from all bonds; therefore, no fever of passion exists in him. Uyyuñjanti satīmanto, na nikete ramanti te; Haṃsāva pallalaṃ hitvā, okamokaṃ jahanti te. 91. Nidhīnaṃva pavattāraṃ, yaṃ passe vajjadassinaṃ; Niggayhavādiṃ medhāviṃ, tādisaṃ paṇḍitaṃ bhaje; Tādisaṃ bhajamānassa, seyyo hoti na pāpiyo. 76. When the wise person sees your faults, he points them out and helps you to improve. It is as if he guides you to a hidden treasure. Associate with such a wise person. 6. Mindfulness of Elements in the Four  Establishments of Mindfulness You have now learned about several methods of meditation and are becoming familiar with the four establishments of mindfulness meditation. These methods include mindfulness of breathing meditation or ānāpānasati, walking meditation, and satisampajañña or sustained awareness meditation. We have also learned about asubha bhāvanā or the meditation of the impurities of body. There is another meditation method within the four establishments of mindfulness meditations; that is “dhātu manasikāra” meditation or ‘mindfulness of elements.’ If we consider the different meditation methods, loving kindness meditation is one we should be doing all the time; mindfulness of breathing meditation can be somewhat difficult for us initially. If this is the case, mindfulness of the impurities of body or mindfulness of the elements would be very beneficial to you as a precursor to mindfulness of breathing meditation. On
